Welcome to Western Dubuque Schools Food Service Department.

The "Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act" requirements for all schools across the nation went into effect July 1, 2012.

We are happy to announce that all of our menus comply with the new regulations!

In an effort to make the transition more acceptable for our students, we have been working towards meeting goals by making changes to our meals. Offering a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, only offering 1% or skim milk options and implementing a large amount of whole grain products. Whole grains can be found in breads, buns, pizza crust, pasta, baked items, snacks and breaded products. We are also continuously updating the food products we use to decrease the amount of sodium and by using products that contain zero grams of trans-fat per serving.

All meals provide approximately 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance for lunch and 1/4 for breakfast as required by the USDA

Don't like what's on the menu? Don't worry! There are OPTIONS!

Elementary students can choose between the main menu item, peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter or ham sandwiches.

Middle & High School students can choose between the main menu item, an alternative hot entree (typically a pizza product), and a variety of hot and cold sandwiches.

In addition to our breakfast items, cereal & toast is available every day at the elementary schools and a variety of hot and cold options at the Middle & High Schools.

A la Carte

Additional items are available for purchase at the Middle & High Schools. These items do not count as part of a reimbursable meal and are charged separately. Students must have money in his/her meal account to make a la carte purchases.

PARENTS ARE IN CONTROL!

ACCOUNTS CAN BE BLOCKED BY CALLING THE FOOD & NUTRITION SERVICES OFFICE AT (563)744-3885 EXT 6041. BLOCKS CAN BE PUT ON OR REMOVED AT ANY TIME.
